| Watch very carefully as Barbra begins this song. She LIVES it. She tells its story. She begins by intellectualizing the manner in which she'll sing as well as her subject then catches her singing stride about 2:30 into the video. The incredible gift of Streisand's voice and her amazing knack for living the song is incomparable. Recall she's only twenty-four here. "If I had to choose again" at the end... that smile of noble pride? Simply beautiful and genuine.

| @NYCDiva63 I think she was ABOUT the dramatics, early on. She had a beautiful voice but the dramatics were the more compelling part of her performances. Now she's got a pretty voice. And everybody's known she's had a pretty voice for 40 years. Maybe she should camp it up again. She's rich. Why not? Bette Midler still camps it up. And every now and then, Midler really talks to US. Now and then that absolutely honest, moving performance. |
